Freeman's Gap is a rural community in the Upstate of South Carolina, where Aimee-Leigh Gemstone (née Freeman) and Baby Billy Freeman originally call home. It is clearly located in the Appalachian Foothills in South Carolina, with mountain vistas close by to the Freeman property. When driving there to confront her brother, Aimee-Leigh passes by a business, Pumpkintown General Store, which is located in Pumpkintown, South Carolina in Pickens County.
Freeman's Gap is where the ancestral family land of the Freeman family is located. Aimee-Leigh Freeman (later Gemstone) grew up in this area before moving to Charleston to join her husband Dr. Eli Gemstone's televangelism church, Gemstone Ministries. Prior to that, Baby Billy and Aimee-Leigh had been a child country music and dancing duo, producing the hit song, Misbehavin'. However, upon the death of Baby Billy and Aimee-Leigh's parents, upkeep of the property had become burdensome and expensive, leading Baby Billy to financial hardship.
In 1989, Baby Billy had reached major financial hardships. Having not been in his singing duo with his sister for some time, he pitched the idea of a reunion tour with Aimee-Leigh. However, Aimee-Leigh had become surprisingly pregnant with her third child, Kelvin Gemstone, despite her and Eli's ages being in their 40s. Eli and Aimee-Leigh decided it was best for the new baby to not tour. However, Aimee-Leigh would go back to Freeman's Gap and confront her brother.
Upon confronting her brother, Aimee-Leigh learned of the exact dire situation her brother was in. Being forced to sell off parcels of their ancestral land due to the tour being cancelled, Aimee-Leigh agrees to go on a short tour while she is still in her early stages of pregnancy. However, at a family meal following a church service, Baby Billy reveals he had already started selling off pieces of the land in Freeman's Gap, effectively showing he had lied to his sister previously. Recognizing that she was being gaslit by her brother, Aimee-Leigh cancels the tour and cuts all ties between her family and her brother.
In 2019, it is shown that Baby Billy is still living in Freeman's Gap with the bulk of the property still intact. The Gemstones later return to Freeman's Gap to confront Baby Billy and his then-wife, Tiffany over a large stolen amount of money that Baby Billy and Tiffany happened upon when they were involved in a car accident with the thief, Scotty. It is shown that Baby Billy enjoys sunset outdoor baths on his property in Freeman's Gap.
